Changes Made to Annual Patent Fee Payment Notification |
The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) recently revised several patent administration procedures in order to conform to the introduction of the Patent Administrative Management Information System, which officially went online on 1 December 1999. Among the revised procedures are new regulations regarding notification for payment of annual patent fees. As of 1 January 2000, payment notices will only be sent to patent owners who have not paid the annual fee by the payment deadline. These notices will be sent in the third month of the six-month grace period. The additional notice is intended to prevent the possibility of the invalidation of patents. |
