Results of IPR Protection Work by the National Police Administration in November 1999 |
In November 1999, the National Police Administration handled IPR-related investigations resulting in the referral of 219 cases involving 256 defendants to district court prosecutors on suspicion of infringement. Of these 219 cases, 56 defendants in 44 cases were suspected of trademark infringement, 8 defendants in 7 cases were suspected of patent infringement, and 192 defendants in 168 cases were suspected of copyright infringement. Sixteen defendants in eleven cases involved the suspected infringement of U.S.-owned intellectual property. The market value of the counterfeit products seized was estimated to be NT$2,977,519,992. |
