Results of Work by the IFPI in November 1999

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, Members' Foundation in Taiwan (IFPI) recently released statistics on its anti-piracy efforts regarding audio works for November 1999. Of the 11 parallel import cases referred to it by Customs, the IFPI determined that one of the cases involved suspected copyright infringement. Two compact disks had not been properly licensed by Sony Columbia, and were therefore not allowed into Taiwan by Customs.

In addition, the IFPI assisted police agencies with 36 investigations of suspected infringement of audio works. These investigations resulted in the seizure of 28,233 pirated cassettes, 10,086 pirated compact disks, 1 MP3, and semi-finished goods and equipment.
