Business Software Alliance Assists Firms to Manage Software

Taiwan Business Software Alliance (TBSA) has joined forces with the government to protect intellectual property and assist Taiwan companies to management their software. During the term of the Year 2000 promotion the TBSA suspended legal action and sent forms and management handbooks to companies to help them manage their software.
The TBSA is also providing free management assistance to assist companies to examine their software to determine if it is fully licensed. For those firms whose software is completely legal, the TBSA will issue awards recognizing the companies as models for the protection of intellectual property.
The TBSA has received more than 300 letters from companies and hundreds of telephone calls each week inquiring about the promotion. BSA Vice Chairman Chang Hsueh-chien stated that the concept IPR protection has gradually attracted the attention of Taiwan industry and that companies need to treat IPR protection as a continual responsibility. Chang added that both the government and the private sector need to cooperate to protect intellectual property. He urged companies to take advantage of the Year 2000 promotion in order to learn how to manage intellectual property and to help create a favorable environment for business development. More information about the program can be obtained by calling the TBSA at 886-2-2516-0111.
