Government Information Office Uncovers 26 Illegal Cable TV Stations in February 2000 |
In February 2000, the GIO and county and city agencies jointly investigated 204 cable TV operators (channel 4s). (Sixty-five of these investigations were made after 8 p.m.) The investigations included 92 investigations of primary broadcast facilities and 112 investigations of secondary broadcast facilities. Six primary broadcast facilities and two primary broadcasting facilities were suspected of violating programming regulations and rights respectively. Seven secondary broadcast facilities and 11 secondary broadcast facilities were suspected of violating programming and advertising regulations respectively. The GIO also handled 240 cases of consumer complaints alleging violations by cable TV operators This total included 44 programming cases; 34 advertising cases, 46 subscription fee cases, and 116 right respectively cases. |
